Misha Kalinin is an award-winning Ukrainian guitarist and composer based in Berlin. His work explores the intersections of jazz, rock, electronic, classical, and experimental music, bringing these diverse influences together in a musical language distinctly his own.

 

His artistic identity has been shaped by years of living and working in different countries. During his five years in Shanghai, he performed extensively throughout China, collaborated with internationally recognised artists, and took part in concert and television productions. Taken together, his years of living, working, collaborating, and touring across Europe and Asia have expanded his musical vocabulary, making the exchange between cultures, genres, and musical traditions an essential part of his creative practice.

 At the heart of Misha’s work is a continuous exploration of the guitar’s expressive and sonic possibilities. Bringing the instrument into dialogue with diverse musical forms, he challenges conventional ideas of what the guitar can be. This exploratory spirit is grounded in technical command and a mature artistic vision, giving his music expressive depth and a character entirely its own.
